"Colonial-Period Korea" database (trial subscription)

Dear Korean Studies materials users,

We would like to let you know that the Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library will have a trial subscription to the “Colonial-Period Korea” from Feb. 1 to Mar. 1, 2010.

The “Colonial-Period Korea” database is a product of Brill. It contains a unique collection of rare documents relating to the Japanese occupation of Korea, from the late nineteenth century up to 1945, representing a highly significant period in Korean history, and vital for a true understanding of many reflexes in the Koreas today.

Drawn from the holdings of the C.V. Starr East Asian Library at Columbia University, New York, the collection includes more than 62,000 pages in Japanese language, 18,000 pages of Western (in most cases English) early impressions of Korea, and Korean texts (16,000 pages).

Access to the Colonial-Period Korea
From the Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library homepage:
Path: East Asian Library Website -> Resources menu -> Korea Studies Resources -> Search -> e-references -> Colonial-Period Korea
(or http://link.library.utoronto.ca/eal/flash/menu.cfm?level=5&id=3)

We have only a one month trial subscription so we hope that you will make the most of it.

If you have any questions regarding the database, please don't hesitate to contact Hana Kim, Korea Studies Librarian, at hn.kim@utoronto.ca.
